When winter arrives in the Kaiserwinkl region, and spreads its blanket of white over the land, the countryside shows its dreamy, romantic side. But Kaiseriwinkl, with its towns Kössen, Walchsee, Schwendt and Rettenschöss, has much more to offer: Pristine nature, living tradition and the impressive summits of the Zahmen and Wilder Kaiser mountains!
Skiing in Walchsee is one of the most popular winter sports, and for good reason! Snowboarders, freeriders, beginners, carvers and our little skiers love flying down the 22 kilometres of pistes in the family-friendly “Hochkössen ski region”. And the nearby ski regions of “Zahmer Kaiser” or the “Waidringer Steinplatte” offer fabulous, beautifully prepared slopes and lots of options for a break in rustic ski huts and inns.
Whether you’re a sporty skater or you would like to explore the area at your leisure in the classic style - you can do it all here! A network covering 250 km of trails, with sunny sections, gentle climbs and a number of circuits will set any sporting pulse racing on a cross-country ski trip in Walchsee! In addition, using the trails in Kaiserwinkl is free.
But you’ll also find lots of holiday activities away from the slopes and trails. Leisurely walks on over 80 km of cleared winter walking routes, snow shoe hikes, skit tours, fun tobogganing sessions, or a romantic horse-drawn carriage trip turn your winter holiday in Walchsee into a real experience.
